The Rehoboth Early Childhood Center (RECC) was started in 2009 in order to offer a caring and accepting environment for young children. Our mission is to provide this caring and accepting environment for young children so that they and their family can flourish and grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, creatively, and physically. We now have two classrooms for 4-year-olds which is considered the Pre-K. Our classrooms as part of the Rehoboth Early Childhood Center are housed on the campus of Rehoboth Christian School on the edge of Gallup, NM. RECC is based on values, principles, and research that indicate optimal learning takes place in a developmentally appropriate setting. It is our belief that early childhood should be a time of fun, social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and the development of the child as a whole. Our program is influenced by the High/Scope framework in both classrooms. We offer large group, small group, and individualized instruction during the course of the school day to meet the diverse needs of each student. We view early childhood as a time of discovering, experiencing, exploring, and “doing.” Our teachers act as navigators and guides, showing children new concepts, building on prior knowledge, and using the classroom materials as a way for the child to explore and make knowledge their own. To accommodate parent’s schedules we off two full day classrooms from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday.
