Children in Need of Services Inc., (CHINS) has three child development centers located in Alamogordo, New Mexico. We are proud to offer the New Mexico Pre-K program at our sites for 4 year-old children that may not have access to a high quality early childhood experience. We use the NM PreK Early Learning Guidelines and Essential Indicators to design our curriculum around the individual needs of the child. Each week we send home small projects that parents and children work on together to involve the whole family. We have three parent-teacher conferences each year beginning with the home visit early in the fall to help each child get to know us in their most comfortable environment. We have parent advisory committee meetings quarterly and welcome the participation of all parents. At the end of the year we have a special ceremony to mark this momentous beginning to their educational future.

Our mission is to provide an inexpensive, safe and consistent learning environment for the children of Otero County so that they may feel safe and are able to SEE, BELIEVE and will WANT TO ACHIEVE. Our programs provide a structured environment that encourages the child’s social, emotional and intellectual success. We promote children’s growth through play, exploration and choices.
