Manzano Mesa Child Development Center Pre-K is located at 801 Elizabeth SE. The main cross roads are Southern and Elizabeth near Central and Eubank. We are located on the grounds of Manzano Mesa Elementary School. As part of our transition plan for children who will be going to kindergarten the following year, we communicate and collaborate with the elementary staff often. We are invited to have library days in the school, students from the fourth grade class come to read to our children, we eat in the cafeteria towards the end of the year and we participate in many school events. Manzano Mesa Multi-Generation Center is nearby and we occasionally walk to the site. They have a water park which we enjoy in the summertime. Currently we are in the self-study phase of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation process.
Our yearly program begins in August and ends the following July. Our calendar schedule is not the same as the Albuquerque Public Schools because our child development center is part of the City of Albuquerque’s Division of Child and Family Development Services. All children that are enrolled in Pre-K attend our year-round program. We can offer parents who are working or going to school wrap-around childcare services before or after Pre-K sessions, which are paid for by families on a sliding fee scale. Wrap-around services can begin at 7:00 A.M. and end at 5:30 P.M. to accommodate parents’ working or school schedules. Our Pre-K program strives to provide quality care and education in a safe learning environment that is child-centered with a developmentally appropriate curriculum which includes early literacy, thinking, reasoning, problem solving, fine and gross motor development, language and communication skills, creative development and social-emotional competency.
