Hawthorne Child Development Center is located at 445 Erbbe Street, NE, on the corner of Copper and Erbbe. Our program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). We have a partnership with Hawthorne Elementary School. We visit the school library every Monday and enjoy the stories the librarian reads to us. We invite community workers such as firefighters, police persons, newspaper reporters and military personnel to visit to our program to learn about community services near us. In addition to the three pre-K staff serving our twenty children, we also have a helpful person from the City of Albuquerque Grandparent Program with our class every day. Our teachers are bilingual (Spanish and English) and are very community oriented.

Our yearly program begins in August and ends the following July. Our calendar schedule is not the same as the Albuquerque Public Schools because our child development center is part of the City of Albuquerque’s Division of Child and Family Development Services. All children enrolled in Pre-K attend our year-round program. We can offer parents who are working or going to school wrap-around childcare services before or after Pre-K sessions, which are paid for by families on a sliding fee scale. Wrap-around services can begin at 7:00 A.M. and end at 5:30 P.M. to accommodate parents’ working or school schedules. Our Pre-K program strives to provide quality care and education in a safe learning environment that is child-centered with a developmentally appropriate curriculum which includes early literacy, thinking, reasoning, problem solving, fine and gross motor development, language and communication skills, creative development and social-emotional competency.
